WE’RE IMPRESSED WITH THE DEVELOPMENTAL STRIDES OF DR. CHIDI LLOYD — EMOLGA APC MEDIA TEAM

People Pursuing Personal Vendetta Are Using The Children They Cannot Help To Cast Aspersions On Me, Says Chidi Lloyd
As the infrastructure revolution witnessed across the Emohua local government area under the watch of Dr Chidi Lloyd continues to attract commendation from far and near, the media team of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Emohua LGA says they are impressed with the developmental strides of the council chairman within his first term in office.
The group made their position known after a tour of some of the projects undertaken by the Emohua local government on Wednesday.
Leader of the group, Prince ThankGod Agbovu said the Emolga APC media team decided to embark on an on-the-spot assessment of the projects being undertaken by the local government following unsubstantiated claims of abandoned projects in the local government area by some misguided youths of the area.
Prince Agbovu said the project tour had allowed the group to separate reality from malicious misrepresentation of facts regarding the achievements of the administration of Dr Chidi Lloyd within two years.
He advised youths of the Emohua local government area to jettison malice and bitterness when criticizing public officeholders, stressing that such unpatriotic activities may have negative consequences on the area’s development.
He further commended the council chairman for granting their request for an audience and tour of the projects being executed across the local government area by his administration, as against the insinuation that he wasn’t going to honour their call.
Prince Agbovu while declaring unflinching support for the administration of Dr Chidi Lloyd on behalf of the group, also enjoined youths of the area and relevant stakeholders to join hands with the council chairman to sustain the change of narrative in the local government area.
“We’ve come here not actually as APC members but as stakeholders in the LGA, not for any political interests, we’re not also here to defect to PDP but to see for ourselves what our LGA chairman is doing and contribute to the development of our LGA.
” We’ve been on the other side of the divide, outside the town hall shouting and screaming; bring him down, kill him and let his blood be on our heads and that of our unborn children, without actually knowing what he has done wrong. So, we said that we cannot continue like this and expect different results. That’s why we’re here.
“Today, with what we’ve seen on the ground, I think we’re indeed satisfied with his performance; the persons on ground here are members of the mainstream APC media team in Emohua LGA, and as stakeholders, it becomes necessary to come and see what is happening in our LGA and take a proper position in the interest of the development of our LGA because our target is to see how our LGA will grow and stand out in the comity of LGAs.
” It is annoying that most of those casting aspersions on the council chairman on media are people who have not even visited the LGA for a very long time.
“This kind of politics will not help the growth of our LGA, we must not continue like this. We must join hands with the council chairman, any time any day, we promise to always be there because this is our LGA.
“Ab initio they told us that the council chairman wouldn’t take our call, that he wouldn’t respond to our text, let alone come down to take us around the project sites but to our greatest surprise you didn’t only grant us audience you’re here in person taking us round the projects and we are the ones begging you that we can longer continue because they’re too many.
“We enjoin our people to join hands with the council chairman to sustain this new narrative of infrastructure development in our LGA.
“Before this time they compared our LGA with Ikwerre LGA but with what we’ve seen today I can tell you for free that we’re even far better than Ikwerre LGA in terms of infrastructure development within two years of the administration of Dr Chidi Lloyd.
“The council chairman is not a superhuman or an angel from heaven that cannot make mistakes; he has his shortcomings, but we must all support and encourage him, and provide advice where necessary, rather than the pull him down campaign.
“For us, we believe that it was God that brought him this far and no man can bring him down when God hasn’t permitted but whether he is going up or coming down, we’re with him. Just call us anytime you need us and in any way you want us to help the administration.”
The chairman of Emohua local government area, Dr. Chidi Lloyd who led the group on the project tour accused persons pursuing personal vendetta of being behind the campaign of calumny against him, to frustrate the change of narrative in the local government area but maintained that he was too prepared to be distracted.
He noted that some of those who used to cast aspersions on him were people who benefited from the corruption in the local government before he emerged as the chairman of the local government area.
“People who are pursuing personal vendetta are using children who they can never help to carry out a campaign of calumny against me but they are wasting their time because they cannot succeed, I’m too prepared to be distracted.
“My team and I have denied ourselves several entitlements and benefits to ensure that our people feel the impact of local government and we will continue to do our best till our last day in office.
“Some of those castigating me in the media are beneficiaries of the age-long irregularities in the payroll of our local government before we came on board and said no, we won’t allow this to continue. So, they are angry that I stopped them from defrauding our local government.
“People who were corruptly placed on salaries above their original grade level, some received a monthly payment from our commonwealth without any employment or appointment letter; no promotion, no conversion by the local government services commission.
“The local government service commission monitored our biometric exercise, which exposed the ghost workers and other irregularities in the system, and some of the casualties from that biometric screening are those recruited to castigate me.”
On the insinuation that his administration was demolishing the legacies of previous administrations, Dr. Lloyd noted that any structure affected by the ongoing transformation in the local government council was no longer fashionable and could not stand the test of time, stressing that Emohua local government area deserves the best after thirty-three years of existence.
He however noted that some of the old structures in the council headquarters may have been the best at the time they were constructed but maintained that such structures presently do not meet the standards expected in local government headquarters.
“We’re not just demolishing structures but we want to ensure that our structures can stand the test of time. So, any building affected by the ongoing transformation in the council was no longer fashionable and could not stand the test of time.
“At this point in the history of our LGA, we deserve the best after thirty-two years of existence and the best is what our administration is providing.
The council chairman while reiterating his administration’s commitment towards transforming Emohua local government area, assured that he was going to leave indelible marks before the expiration of his tenure as provided by the constitution.
“For us, we want to leave indelible marks so that when we leave office because the highest we can stay is six years, people can look at some of our legacies and remember us after we had gone”
The Emohua council Boss commended the Emolga APC media team for their choice of investigative reportage and issue-based criticism while encouraging them to summon the courage to join the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), stressing that he is in a better position to advise them on party politics as a former leader in the APC before his return to the PDP where he was a founding member before his brief stopover at the APC.
He assured that the leadership of the PDP in Emohua LGA remains united and ready to welcome new members, stressing that the PDP has zero tolerance for discrimination, especially as it concerns the rights and privileges of newly admitted members.
Prominent among the members of the APC media team in the delegation were Amah Justice, Friday Chima Okor, Urie Princewill, Gabriel Emesiobi, Okor Noble Endurance, Brown Wokoma, Eze Oteh and Sunny George.
Okwukwe Iwedi, a non-APC member who was also part of the project tour said he was at the council headquarters to identify with Dr. Chidi Lloyd because of his laudable achievements within two years of his administration.
Some of the project sites visited within the council headquarters include the ongoing construction of the ultra-modern Emohua council administrative building, the re-construction and remodelling of the council legislative assembly complex, the council ICT studio named after Chief Emeka Woke, as well as the completion of the council secretariat building abandoned by successive administrations.
Others are the ongoing construction of the 500-capacity pavilion (mini stadium) named after Mary Ngozi Kekwaru; the already completed council warehouse, the already completed doctor’s residential building and offices for healthcare workers, and the primary healthcare cold chain facility for the storage of vaccines, as well as the ongoing construction of the first-ever bank building in Emohua LGA which is also making appreciable progress at the council headquarters.
The project tour ended at the ongoing construction of the Emohua divisional police headquarters building situated opposite the Emohua campus of the Rivers State University along the Emohua-Kalabari road, where the council chairman’s visitors proposed for a continuation of the tour on another date to enable them to visit other project sites outside the local government headquarters.
Dr. Lloyd was accompanied by principal officers and political appointees of the Emohua local government.
